Edgar T. Wherry Award
Formerly the Pteridological Section Award. Given in conjunction with the Pteridological Section of the Botanical Society of America for the best presentation in the contributed papers session. The award honors Dr. Wherry's many contributions to our understanding of fern floristics and patterns of evolution. Must indicate a desire to be considered for the award at the time of abstract submission; award amount is $500. Click here for a list of awardees.
Warren H. Wagner Travel Award
Formerly the Pteridological Section Travel Award. Given in conjunction with the Pteridological Section of the Botanical Society of America to facilitate student travel to the annual meeting. The award honors Dr. Wagner’s contributions to pteridology. Applications are accepted annually.
James D. Caponetti Undergraduate Student Research Award
Given to support undergraduate student research on ferns or lycophytes. The award honors the efforts of Dr. Caponetti to encourage students to study pteridophytes, as well as his 42-year tenure as Treasurer of the American Fern Society. Applications are accepted annually; award amount is $500.
Nathalie S. Nagalingum Graduate Student Research Award
Given to support graduate student research on ferns or lycophytes. Established in honor of Dr. Nagalingum and her exceptional contributions to our understanding of plant diversity, particularly ferns. Applications are accepted annually; award amount is $1500.
American Fern Journal Outstanding Paper Award
Given for the best paper published in the American Fern Journal. Selected annually by the Associate Editors of the American Fern Journal.
